Homeowners
Insurance Overview
Single dwelling homeowners policies offer protection
against losses or damage to your house and its contents.
An insurance policy covers various "perils".
Perils covered include fire, windstorm, vandalism, theft
and personal liability among others. In addition to
coverage to the structure, homeowners' policies usually
contain additional types of coverage: additional living
expenses, personal liability and medical payments in
the event that the homeowner experiences a named peril.
There is a special type of insurance for condominium
owners. The condominium association owns the land, land
improvements and common parts of the building. Therefore,
a condominium requires a special type of coverage. This
type of policy covers contents and property not covered
by the condominium association's policy.
