Selecting a builder is an important decision - one you will have to live with for a long time. First, select a contractor you are comfortable with - one who understands your tastes and needs and with whom you can communicate easily. Communications is a key since you will be doing lots of communicating with your builder over a significant period of time.

Take the process of selecting a builder seriously. There a many different factors that will come into play. Be certain that you have considered everything that might become important to you later in the process.

Choosing a Builder
Homeowners will tell you that the choice of a builder either made their dream home become reality, or made their dream home become a nightmare! You must choose a builder that meets three criteria:

· The builder can competently complete the job in the time frame allowed, within the agreed upon price.

· You (and your spouse or partner) can develop a good working relationship with the builder to get through the issues and problems that invariably arise during construction.

· You (and your spouse or partner) have temperaments that mesh well with the builder and the builder's foreman.
